The Translation of Idiomatic Expressions in ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’ Novel from English into Indonesian

This research examines idiomatic expressions found in the translation of Twain’s ‘The Adventures Huckleberry Finn’ from English into Indonesian; identifies characteristics expressions; and investigates translator’s decision to apply procedures translating equivalence. was data-driven study which focuses on an American novel, The Finn written by Mark Twain (1884/2018) as Source Text (ST) its Indonesian Ambhita Dhyaningrum (2011) Target (TT). data analyzed using descriptive (qualitative)-comparative methods focusing Kvetko’s (2009) idioms, Catford’s (1965) formal correspondence textual equivalence, Newmark’s (1981) semantic communicative translation. findings show that demotivated/opaque partially motivated idioms/semi opaque, semi idioms are identified idioms.
